About Us

Welcome to Springvale Caravans - Thanks For Visiting

Springvale Caravans has operated under their parent company name of Caravan Village, which was situated on Maroondah Highway, Croydon since June 1975.

A little bit of History.

As a family we have been involved in camping and caravans for over 50 years.

My earliest memory is of dad loading up the little trailer so high that he could not get it out of the garage when we were leaving the next morning and had to unpack the top layer to get it out and hook it up to the little blue Zephyr before we were on our way. We were heading to Bright for the school holidays - I was 7 at the time.

We had many camping trips - stopping beside the road to pump up the Metho primus burner to heat the kettle for a cuppa in a wayside stop on the side of the road - There was 7 of us - Mum, Dad & 5 boys.

We had holidays at Rosebud on the Port Phillip Bay Foreshore, Port Fairy, Bright, Orbost, Combienbar, The Gold Coast, Noosa, Nambour, Pambula, Merimbula & Tarthra plus many more locations & holidays.

We moved up from the tent big and camping gear and hired a caravan to take to the Flinders Ranges in the late 60's and went Sturt Desert Pea Hunting - we had a great time and eventually found fields of the elusive Sturt Desert Peas - which is the floral emblem of South Australia.

After that trip in the hire caravan went very well - mum and dad decided to buy a caravan - settling on a 6 berth Coronet - 4 bunks at one end and a dinette at the other - it also had a full annexe so we could all fit and have a bit of room to move - you could say we had the "Caravan Bug". That was in 1970.

We had many great trips in that little van - we went north, south, east and west.

Both mum and dad were very keen on caravanning and in 1975 dad got a whisper that Caravan Village in Croydon was up for sale - so quick smart - mum & dad did their homework and together they made the big decision.

Dad would leave his job at the bank - where he had worked for 26 years and they would buy Caravan Village. So in July 1975 - we - as a family - were now in the caravan business - selling new Franklin Caravans and used caravans. We had a workshop and a wash bay and not much else.

The caravans back then were very basic, single or double beds, fold down dinettes to make another bed, small gas & electric fridges, 2 burner stoves with grillers - you could get an oven as an option. They had push out windows and push up roof hatches and curtains on the windows - for additional room you would normally get an annexe.

I joined the business in 1975 and worked in the workshop - learning everything I could about caravans and how they went together - then I worked in sales on Saturday & Sunday.

Greg also started working for the business part time in 1975 - and then full time from 1978 when he left school.

Darren joined the business in 1983 when it relocated to its current location in Springvale Road Keysborough.

Caravan Village operated from Maroondah Highway Croydon for many years and then moved down the road a little closer to Ringwood - still on Maroondah Highway.

In 1983 - the business re-located to its current location at 723 Springvale Road, Keysborough.

At the Springvale Site we started with the Windsor Caravan Range, which included Statesman.

Along the way we have been dealers for other brands, which have included Traveller, Opal, Capricorn, Roadstar  and Jurgens Caravans.

Our major focus is on Quality Caravans and are currently authorised dealers for Olympic Caravans & Pop Tops, Living Edge Caravans & First Class Caravans.

For nearly 40 years we have always offered range of good quality caravans and after sales service and sound advice.

Mum & Dad are retired now, but keep a keen eye on the business and the caravan industry in general.

The business is now owned and operated by Greg and Darren, and their loyal team of sales consultants, office staff and workshop personnel.

Darren and Greg are continually on the lookout for opportunities to offer a more extensive range of new Caravans and Pop Tops, so keep an eye on this site for exciting news in the very near future.

Between us we have over 131 years of experience in caravans and the caravan industry - you might say that we have caravans in our blood.

We hope you can use our knowledge and expertise to your advantage and you enjoy the experience of dealing with the Springvale Caravans organisation.

Greg Millott
